Insulation and Walls

This may be a very simple blog entry for me! The past two weeks of housebuilding can be summed up in 3 words: Insulation and Walls. Here are some pics from the process!

Pre-insulation:

During Insulation:

And finally, with walls added to it:

I should also throw in that they have built the frame for the kitchen island. Here are a few pictures of that:

We also got the new tub in that replaces the one that was too small for me. This one was big enough but as we looked at it, we realized they did not install the proper number of jets on it. So it is currently on its way back to Atlanta to have two more jets added to it! Here are a few pictures of it before it got sent back:

Overall, things are going well! Here is one final picture of the exterior!

Getting Antsy

Well, I knew a time would come when I would get really antsy about the housebuilding process. That is where I have been for the past two weeks or so. Bobby gets constant comments of "You know what I am really looking forward to about that house....." , and he can give you my multiple ways to end that statement! I am just ready to get over there. I am still very much enjoying the process of building a home, but there are many days when I am just ready to go live there already! Sometimes it seems like it's just a project we are working on without an end. I am thankful that there is progress happening though so I know there will come a time when I will actually get to live there!
In the past 2 weeks we have gotten a septic tank, the front of the house has gotten siding on it, they started building the back porch, the framing was built for the gas log fireplace, we have met with the cabinet guys to discuss where all the cabinets will go, we have picked out flooring, we got the new tub ordered, we took care of positioning the outside lights, and we've made a couple of trips to Lowes to begin looking at some of the next items on the list!
Here are some pictures of the siding, septic tank, and other fun times :)
As they started on the siding, the corners were brown. We opted to have them painted white as trim. Here's the before:

Here is the after:
More siding pics:

Here is the siding started on the back of the house:
and the beginnings of a back porch:

and some pics of the septic system (I had never seen one before we got ours! Thank goodness we didn't have to pick this out!!):

And just one more fun picture...

Moving into May

Well, May has just begun and we have seen continued progress! We've also been very fortunate to have lots of friends to come out and visit. I wish I had been able to get pictures with all of them, but sometimes I just don't have the camera for those spur of the moment trips!
We have had our first real glitches in the process as well. The tub came in that I ordered and it was lovely. Jets were nice, the color was nice, there was just one problem...I could not sit in it with my legs completely outstretched! So even though we were excited to get the plumbing rough-in stuff done, the tub you see here is not the tub we will be keeping!
Here are some of the other plumbing fixtures, and some pictures with Bobby's mom who came out on the 24th to visit us!

They've also done some work in the Bonus room, building up the two little side walls at the top of the stairs and making little door openings where some attic space will be! I just barely fit in them :)
Another nice addition has been the stairs going up into the house from the garage! No more climbing ladders or walking the plank into the house!

On Friday, April 30th, we saw where they had begun putting siding on the house! We hope the weather will cooperate for them to put more on the house this week! They started on the far side of the house, opposite of the garage.
We really love sharing our progress with our family and friends. We aren't trying to brag, because we know that this is not the biggest house, the most expensive house, the prettiest house, or the most perfect house. It's just OUR house. We have walked every inch of this property. We know every corner. We will have invested in every inch. We have put so many hours into thinking about it and planning for it, that it just makes us excited to share that with family and friends. I have pictures from the Pratt's visit and the Fogle's visit, but it has also been a joy to have Amy, Angela, Trevor, Dale, and several others come out to visit! Hopefully we will have the camera with us next time you come :)
I know I don't say this enough, but I have the best "partner in crime" that a girl could ask for! Through tub mistakes, buying gigantic lights (those will be featured in an upcoming blog), forgetting prices, indecision on just about everything, Bobby has been so patient and kind. He has made this so much fun for me. He is more talented with this stuff than most of you will ever see, and I am very blessed for getting to work on it with him! So here are a few pictures of us :)
